FAQ

Every company is a technology company, no matter the product or service. How? Because in today’s digital age no company can make, deliver, or market its product effectively without the use of technology. Software is already changing the business landscape – across all industries. As a new player, we don’t want to steal the industries margins, or attack profit lines. We see software purely as a tool to help companies adapt quickly and gain a foothold on the market.

Our pricing is tailored to each individual project. We understand you have budget requirements and so our Demand Team is happy to negotiate payments terms that work for you; and that also reflects the value of our hackers. We don’t work for equity, we find this sets the wrong incentives for both parties. Our systems are tools created to improve people's lives and support the core business. Since joint ventures generally have smaller chances of success, this doesn’t align with what we're trying to achieve.

From making trains run on time to improving customer service, they thrive on solving challenges to make the world better place. Some have been coding for decades - since they were kids. Before we start any new project, we carry out a conflict check to see if we work for any of your direct competitors. If we do, we'll immediately set up a firewall. Employee mobility between companies is restricted, and ascertain non-disclosure agreements with third parties to ensure implementation of the firewalls. This ensures communication is secure, making it harder to find out about private and confidential business information in the event of a leak.

Both. Once we begin working with you, Business Operations and Enterprise Architect Specialist will consult with you to fully understand your business and your challenge. We work with you to decide the right way forward. Close consultation then continues for the entire project journey, so we’re always aligned. We also coach, to ensure you understand our Hacker culture. By doing this we can execute and enable this culture, so you can leverage the possibilities. And of course, we develop. This is what makes us different: we don’t just consult, we coach. We don’t just work, we execute with value.

During conceptualisation phase, we create a visual product architecture of your product to define the scope of your product. This gets communicated across all departments, so everyone is aligned with the opportunity to feedback. Because this happens so early on, it helps you better understand what it is that you want right from the start - and spot things you’d like to change. The later we leave it to make these changes, the more time it takes; and the greater the cost implication. That’s why early decisions and maintaining transparency at all times is key. It’s also why we spend so much time and effort during conceptualisation - by making things clear and transparent via design, we enable product decisions to be made fast and early.

We’re not an entertainment business, and don’t host events. However we’re always keen to meet new potential partners. Please get in touch with media team to arrange, we look forward to meeting with you.

This is a big general misconception, that computers will replace humans. The software we develop serves to creates new roles and improve current jobs. Not only do machines need human intervention to keep them running, AI requires many specialist roles including trainers, translators, lawyers, as well as a continuous learning culture. Where AI has the power to predict, it needs people capable of analysing, distilling, and deciphering this information into actionable insights. What we create is tools for humans to make better decisions. As a consequence, we provide more value to the core business.

Fear not, we don’t want to integrate with SAP, manipulate your data, or re-write anything. But we do need certain information. Put it this way, if we don’t understand what your business is doing in terms of data, how can we help you? Not having access to this kind of information makes things very difficult and time intensive for us. What we would do is build a SAP adapter to augment your database. Using a cache system (GraphQL) allows us to keep SAP as the leading system, while having read rights to the AI system.

You do. We don’t claim to be industry experts – this is your role. We’re not afraid to ask questions, to learn in order to understand and execute. But you need to teach us. We solve your problems using our technology expertise, which is enriched by your industry knowledge.

We’re always interested in working with NGOs. We exist to affect positive change, with the businesses we work with as well as in our wider community and the world around us. If you’d like to chat about an opportunity, please get in touch with our Demand Team.

Knowing how your systems and database work allows us to better manage your expectations and move the project along faster. So if you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, it really helps if you can prepare your data sources. Best case scenario would be to hand-over your custom REST API to Hackerbay. If this isn’t possible, our data integration teams have vast experience with all kinds of data including Microsoft, Salesforce, Excel, and SAP. We also have tons of experience managing disperse and large amounts of data across the business. Whether that’s in .csv format or Excel exports, or even if simply letting us know what kind of data structure you have; understanding what kind of information you store is key to keeping us all aligned.

Hackerbay was born three years ago, out of a desire to make the world a better place. The more we looked, the more we realised our lives were full of problems, from late running trains to poor healthcare. That’s when we realised the world needed hackers - so we made it our mission to bring together the world's best hackers, and invite the world's biggest companies to give us their most challenging problems.

Don’t panic, we’ll always work to fix it. Within our proven hacker methodology, we apply utmost transparency at all times. We the time to understand your needs, which reduces risks; risks for which we’ll always take responsibility for. We’ll also be in constant contact with you. You get a dedicated Key Account Manager who can be reached all day every day, offering an open channel of communication and a constant feedback loop.

We tend to work on extremely complex business problems. The challenge is that many of our clients don’t have a clear idea of what their problem is, or its full scale. Add to that, the fact that their world is constantly evolving, including their business goals, requirements, the needs of their customers; and therefore the scope of their challenge. This is why it’s difficult for us to give you a definitive answer when it comes to project completion – because things are constantly changing. What we do know is that after initial consultation, we give you a mission statement in two days. Our goal is to then deliver proof of concept as fast as is feasibly possible, in order to validate the core mission that gets you closer to your vision. Instead of taking three months planning how to deliver over the next 2-3 years, we get started immediately - and iterate from there. This way you get to realise business value fast. We don’t set a fixed timeline based on full completion, we set a distribution date based on when we can deliver tangible results so success is ongoing, achievable, and constant.

We want to deliver your product as quickly as possible, within budget. So from a time and cost-perspective, the earlier change requests are made - the better. Gathering feedback from people unaffiliated to your project is a great way to get an external perspective. With this, you can get a clear picture of anything you’ve missed. However, should you need to do this at a later stage or post-project, we’ll always be there for you. Just get in touch with your Key Account Manager and we’ll work together to help you.
